This Magical Sahara Desert Tour will start at morning by picking you up from your hotel in Fes, and travel through the middle Atlas via Ifrane the Moroccan Switzerland”then Azrou where we will have a stop at the cedar forest for to see and play with Barbary apes. From here we drive further south passing by several towns and you will get the opportunity to view nomads living in tents on the way. then you will stop in Midelt where you will enjoy your lunch. Later on, continuing our drive to Merzouga through the Tizi N’Talghomt Pass (1907m) while enjoying the panoramic views. Also you will have stop for a panoramic view of Aoufous palmeraie along Ziz River. At the end of the day we will continue to the captivating dunes of Erg Chebbi, (Merzouga ). Arrive to the hotel where you will spend the night.
After breakfast we will start driving to explore to the small villages around Erg Chebbi dunes such as Khamlia Merzouga and Hassi where we will have a stop at the garden to see canal irrigation system. Then continue the drive toward Merzouga. see Dayet Srji Lake that forms in spring time which attracts locks of pink flamingos and wildlife; Bird-watchers will enjoy this peaceful area. On our trail to Khamlia known as the village of black people who were slaves coming from Sudan. we expect to meet locals showing their desert foxes. also encounter desert mammals and reptiles In Khamlia, We will be hospitably welcomed with a cup of tea (Whiskey Berber) with their spiritual Gnawa music. Leaving Khamlia our next stop may for Picnic lunch under the shadow of a tree is on the panoramic view of golden dunes near the Algerian border. then continuing to visit a Nomad family living under Berber tent and who are taking care for herd of cattle, goats and camels. You will be introduced to family members and know about their way of life. Later on, you will have the chance to visit the sites of black volcanic rocks. then reach the panorama near Yasmina Auberge where you will be amazed with the scene of the dunes in addition to the nearby lake (springtime).Back to your hotel to have a rest and a mint tea before starting a camel trekking across the sandy dunes of the erg-chebbi. Camel trek across a desert landscape,you will enjoy the beauty of the sunset on camel, after 2 hours you will reach to the desert camp to spend night in a berbre tent. At your desert shelter, your camels are hobbled and mint tea is served. After a wonderful dinner, there will be a camp fire and drums playing,diner and overnight in berber tent .
Wake up early to witness the beautiful scenery of sunrise from the top of the dunes of Erg Chebbi then have breakfast and ride camel back to the Kasbah hotel in Merzouga and have a hot shower and get ready for the new journey. We will drive to Rissani to visit to Moulay Ali ash-Sharif and you may also investigate the local market and see the places where hundreds of donkeys gather. Continuing on our way toward Tinjdad passing by Erfoud “the capital of marble fossil” .You will view the Canal irrigation system on our route. Then have lunch in Tinjdad. After we will have another stop for a pananoramic view of the river. Continuing on the road alongside the river to reach the gorges where you will Walk on foot through this stunning place while enjoying the views of high rock walls (up to 300 meters). Dinner and overnight stay in a Kasbah hotel.
From Todra Gorges we will travel back to Fes in a different road till Midelt while enjoying the landscapes and Berber villages through the Atlas Mountains, and have a stop for lunch on the way. Then continue to Fes. Late afternoon arrival to Fes, drop off at your riad/hotel with amazing stories and unforgettable memories in your mind.
